The comedian Russell Peters is having the last laugh—at least when it comes to real estate.
After a successful sale of his huge Hidden Hills, CA, mansion for $7.8 million, Peters recently purchased a smaller but swanky new build in Encino, CA, for $5.6 million.
The stand-up comic has moved into a modern design with six bedrooms and nine bathrooms on 8,000 square feet. Located behind a gated driveway and perched on a hill, it was completed in 2019.
The previous home on the lot was once owned by the late Robert Kardashian, best-known for serving as defense attorney on O.J. Simpson‘s murder trial in 1995 (and, of course, for being married to the reality TV show star now known as Kris Jenner.)
A striking entryway features a vast glass wall and a dramatic double staircase.

The spacious floor plan showcases the family room and dining room, which includes an 84-bottle, glassed-in wine rack. Just adjacent is a spectacular chef’s gourmet kitchen, consisting of an enormous 19-foot center island, Sub-Zero fridge, and wine fridge.
Other elements include an eight-burner range, steam oven, and three separate dishwashers, making cleanup a breeze after even the largest of dinner parties.
On the second level, you’ll find two master suites, each with its own balcony and picturesque views of the San Fernando Valley. They also have a fireplace, a sitting area, double sink vanities, and ample walk-in closets.
Four additional bedrooms on the upper level include en suite bathrooms. This level also houses the entertainment room, with a 200-inch screen and projector and half-bathroom. Other features include custom light fixtures throughout, two separate laundry rooms, and Crestron home automation.
The lower level features two spacious bedrooms with en suite bathrooms and a living area with pocket doors that open to the outdoor living area. The rear oasis consists of a pool and spa, full bathroom, built-in BBQ, and plenty of space to entertain family and guests.
Hidden Hills home
Just four days after completing the Encino deal, Peters sold his Hidden Hills estate. The comic had purchased the property in 2017 for $6.45 million.
Three years later, he was hoping to make a significant return on his investment, asking $8.5 million in June 2020. It sold for the discounted price of $7.8 million, which still proved profitable for him.
At almost 12,000 square feet, the eight-bedroom, 8.5-bathroom mansion is significantly larger than the Encino pad. It features a family room with a wet bar, a formal dining room adjacent to the chef’s kitchen, as well as a breakfast room.
Other perks include a 14-seat movie theater, an aquarium, and temperature-controlled wine storage.
The 1.45-acre lot includes a beach entry pool and spa with waterfall, covered patios, barbecue area, putting green, and landscaping with rolling lawns. The property also has a separate one-bedroom guesthouse.
Malibu abode
Clearly, the 50-year-old comedian is serious about real estate. He also owns a massive Malibu mansion that he first put up for sale in 2016, with an equally large price tag.
Initially listed for $12 million, the property, which he had purchased two years before for $4,725,000, and then remodeled in 2015, simply sat on the market.
In 2018, Peters slashed the price of the Malibu residence to $8.8 million. It was then dropped again early in 2020, to just below $8 million. Now, the home is leased through 2023, so he has another steady income stream, in addition to his comedy career.
The Canadian has also reportedly owned homes in Las Vegas, and one in the Toronto area that he recently sold, according to Variety.
Peters began his career in comedy in 1989 in his native Toronto, where he won a Gemini Award in 2008. He focuses on observational comedy, addressing racial, ethnic, and cultural stereotypes.
“I don’t make the stereotypes, I just see them,” he said in his 2006 comedy special, “Outsourced.”
Peters can be seen on his stand-up show “Deported,” on Amazon Prime.
Desiree Zuckerman at Rodeo Realty represented Peters on the Encino deal. Jennifer Santulan with Keller Williams Realty Encino-Sherman Oaks represented the seller.
